I love this place. Everything is so fresh. We started out with the fries with Gorgonzola, they were amazing and plentiful. I had the bacon avocado burger. It was juicy and big. The bun seemed to be baked in store or probably from Calico Cupboard. I had it with onion rings which were good. The prices are a little high for my taste usually, but well worth it. I will come back when i am in the area.

Had a great dinner here recently. Service was very good, the food was delicious and the ambiance cute and comfy. We tried the jalapeño poppers- tasty and filling, flavorful and not too spicy. The crab cakes were good but I would have preferred more lumps of pure crab, less bread crumbs. The Caesar salad was great.

This is a good choice in LaConner, after making it a priority to try out the two 5-star options (see my other reviews!....) Food and service are always solid, and have always had a good meal here. Desserts are well-known and worth saving room for if possible.

The food wasn't bad but it was crazy expensive!! The $14 mac n cheese was mediocre. Considering we only drank water and skipped dessert, our total bill was still $50. The service was horrible. We had a party of three and it took two hours to get in and out!!! It took 10-15 min for a server to get our drink order and 30 min waiting time for food. I had other activities planned while we were there for the tulip festival, but had to cut our entire day short in order to get back to Seattle before traffic. If the service was this terrible at 2pm on a Friday, I can't imagine how bad it would be during peak hours. I've eaten out a lot and have previous experience in the food service industry, and this has been one of the WORST experiences I've ever had.

Cute little spot. Delicious food and good service. We had the black bean soup and kale caesar (maybe ask for the dressing on the side) and fish tacos. Definitely would love to go back!

Best fish and chips I've had...possibly ever! Excellent shrimp and arugula salad. Good selection of local, craft beers. Super fresh ingredients which seemed mostly (all?) local. Cozy atmosphere and terrific service (Thanks Amelia!). Our kids liked the food, too. We will definitely be returning!

Although the food was delicious we had to wait for a long time for service. The veggie burger was amazing I would come back if I'm not in a hurry.

This was a real disappointment. First of all one of the attractions on our trip to La Conner was to see the Tillinghast Seed Company. I had read about it in a book (copyright 2011 just purchased from Costco) but apparently it was gone since the 90's. OK so next we see one of the replacement is Seeds Bistro - a quaint Bistro that had huge Cream Puffs. I have been tricked by Cream Puffs before so I asked are they real and is the whipped cream real. I was told definitely. My wife and I ordered one to split and two hot chocolates. First issue - The Chocolate (note I did not say hot) arrived in plastic cups - even though they knew we were staying - really - you would think a place like this would have real cups. Next it was cold - not just slightly cold but due to the amount of time we waited for it - I am guessing they forgot our order - although they were not busy. It was also very watered down and neither of us finished the drink. Second - in my opinion - the cream puff is fake. I know you can fill the puff with many things but when a customer inquires about the inside - shouldn't they be honest. It does have some whipped cream but the majority is custard. I would think when a customer inquires about the ingredients - you should mention that fact - since it is one of the major components. We would have complained but we were eating on their deck and they never came out to check - (possibly too embarrassed :)). Suggestion is to just go into town - there are much nicer places to spend your money. There is noting unique about this place except the high price for disappointment.

Very expensive for what you get. Service is very amateurish, looks like college kids doing a summer job with no training or work experience. The seafood stew was a a big mistake..... Potatoes a gogo and very little of anything else. Would not recommend this place to anyone .....

I'm giving this wonderful new find five stars just based on my first bowl of clam chowder, the service and the ambience!

Not quite what we expected based on the reviews. It's a nice little cafe, for sure, but our experience left us wondering why people were waiting close to hour to eat there. Given the crowds, I have to think it's a bit of a destination... versus people looking for lunch at the best reviewed place in La Conner. The crowds meant we waited quite awhile for food that seemed just a tick more expensive than it should have been (sandwiches/burgers). The food itself wasn't great or bad - it was middle of the road. I understand we went during Tulip Festival season, but I'd describe lunch there as "okay." If we're back in the area, we'll probably branch out to other places.

Nice service, one dish was better than the other. The crab cake sandwich was really good. The veggie sandwich was pretty good. The French fries were okay. Kind of expensive $37 for two sandwiches & two drinks.

Seeds is a small restaurant and bar in La Conner that has really yummy food and good service. It's charm is a delight. However, the food needs to be prepared with consistency across all aspects and further training is required in the kitchen. I will give Seeds another try. I came in for lunch with my adopted mom after visiting the tulip fields. It was my first time at Seeds. She had been there before and was raving about it. We were seated quickly at a booth. Then the waiter came over to say hello with a big smile and was happy to be there. He had a great attitude the whole time he was with us and checked on us often. We didn't have to ask for the check or wait a long time for it to be processed. We both ordered the fish and chips. I also asked for a pitcher of water. My mom got an iced tea, and I ordered an Italian creme soda. The cod was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of breading. It came with 3 large pieces of cod. The tartar sauce was freshly made with a lot of dill which was a new way to have it for me, and it was spot on delicious. The fries were all right. They are cut into the shoestring size and appeared to be over fried a bit. The coleslaw was missing something, I don't know what; it tasted like cabbage with a little flavored water mixed in. My creme soda was missing the club soda! It was just creme and flavoring. It also needed more ice and didn't have any whipped cream. For dessert, my mom got the budino, which is an Italian pudding neither of us had heard of. She loved it! It had a chocolate cookie crust bottom, with a lightly flavored caramel pudding, then caramel and whipped cream served in a little jam jar. I had a slice of chocolate silk pie. It was to die for. I can't stand pie crust that is overcooked. Theirs was just the right flakiness and still a bit tender. I was stuffed but I kept eating to finish it off. The interior is decorated like a barn restaurant. The floor and walls are wooden boards. There are old fashioned photos and art work reflecting the farming history of the building and surrounding area. They had fresh tulips on the bar and real pussy willow branches on the sides of the booths. The front entrance is welcoming with a huge chalkboard with a cheesy saying about eating dessert. Large windows facing the street give plenty of light. We noticed that they have a happy hour and some great small plates to choose from at that time. I will give Seeds another try. I would hope that the owners read the reviews. I see that the inconsistency of the cooking is a common occurrence here. There is free parking behind the building. Food: 3.5 Service: 3.5 Ambiance: 3 Parking: 3

We were pleasantly surprised when we randomly picked a place to have dinner and wound up with a wonderful experience. Everything from the décor to the friendliness of the wait staff to the deliciousness of our meals made this top-notch place to dine. We will definitely dine there again on our next visit to La Conner.

Super cute environment, there were several people here working on their laptops. Bar on one side, coffee bar on the other. Delicious clam chowder!! Service is a bit slow (it seemed like there was only one waitress). We had to ask for refills and some other things as well. My husbands peppered bacon and avocado burger was unreal! So good! My pulled pork sandwich on the other hand, was awful. It tasted "off". As someone who makes BBQ'd pulled pork and loves it, this was one of the worst, will never get this again. But don't forget to save room for a cream puff. Incredible. We'll go here again for sure, I'll just choose something else!

Nice atmosphere. I'm guessing not a lot of people working in the kitchen and only one server on a Sunday night so things went slow, but unless your starving and impatient, we liked the "relaxed pace" as we were in no hurry. Many of the menu items were designated Gluten Free (the current "in" allergy/intolerance to think you have - no offense to those who really have it) We got three appetizers, the crab cakes, Cougar Gold mac, crispy brussel sprouts. Huge amount of sprouts and two crab cakes the size of what other places might serve as an entree. Mac portion was small. Brussel sprouts were great with a touch of cumin. Crab Cakes had quite a bit of veggies blended in but not bad. Cougar Gold Mac was disappointing, very dry. I thought it would have a creamy cheese sauce. Wine flight was a deal for $12. Overall a pleasant experience. We got too full to order entrees so for now I'll round up to 4 stars.

It seems strange to me that the "not currently recommended" reviews all seem to be the negative ones. Unfortunately this review is fairly negative as Seeds just keeps on going downhill. Let's see if it gets cut. The bistro steak was gristle laden and the fries that came with it were horrible, overdone like some cheap greasy spoon. The asparagus appetizer was described as spears sitting up in a bouquet arrangement. What came was a bunch of tough spears fried together in clumps on a plate that made a crumbly greasy mess as we tried to cut them apart to eat them. They were so bad I finally asked that it be taken away. The waiter apologized and said he'd never seen it served like that. We were charged anyway. My husband had the fried brussels sprouts for an appetizer. They arrived mostly burnt. He had the fried oysters which he said were pretty good. At least one bright spot. I guess the word has gotten around as the restaurant was pretty empty for at 7 PM. As we drove by Nell Thorns on the way home we noticed their parking lot was full. We hope that Seeds gets their act together again as we used to enjoy going there a lot. In the meantime, you'll find us at Nell's.

Cute interior, reasonable prices but....I feel like the foods and drinks were slightly over priced. The meals were all very well portioned, and very tasty. I loved that everything was relatively locally sourced. The Cougar Gold mac n cheese was yum, the cod sandwich was good (standard, not exceptional), the tacos were fine, the pork was delightful, and the fish and chips were standard. The beer selection was great! I was so surprised that they had Two Beers brewing on tap! A nice place for a quick stop, not my absolute favorite but very great and I would go back.

We ate here twice during our recent visit to La Conner. My first observation is that the seating isn't very comfortable. The chairs were hard wood inside and hard metal outside. If you don't have a padded behind, this will be a problem because you will be here a while... The first time we ate here it was evening and we ordered the meatloaf and the fish and chips. The meatloaf was great but I found the mashed potatoes to be too garlicky. I couldn't eat them. My husband seemed to like his fish and chips though he said the cole slaw was basically just cabbage. We found it to be hard to hold a conversation at times inside because the noise level was incredibly high. If the people next to us were talking, we would have had to shout to hear each other over them. It was kind of strange because otherwise it was a rather relaxing, dimly lit atmosphere. And it's not a large restaurant. It must just be poor soundproofing? It was kind of confusing. The second time, we went for lunch and ate on the patio. I had the fish and chips and he had the BBQ sandwich. He said the sandwich was good. Oddly, it has a "garlic" BBQ sauce. This place seems to love their garlic! I had the fish and chips this time. The quality of the fish was very good. I didn't care for the tartar sauce though. When I mentioned it to my husband, he said he didn't like it either. I didn't mind the cole slaw though. Both times we were here the service was very slow. Plan for a leisurely meal and don't come if you're already starving. This place would get 5 stars from me if they put some padding on the chairs, laid off the garlic (I want to taste the potatoes, not just garlic!), did something about the noise level, and had good tartar sauce. We'll come back for sure, especially to try the happy hour!

Fish tacos are the way to go. Blackened. A couple other people have added pictures of their fish tacos, but they weren't blackened. Mine were. I win. The waitress was friendly, and very casual in her approach. I would be a regular here, if I were to visit La Conner more often. The restaurant is enjoyable, but I don't think it warrants a trip to another town all on its own. Good beer.

Ate here for the second time. The first time it was good. Oh well. This time the fish in the fish & chips had a different breading & it was tough. Also why oh why do these places insist on making their own cole slaw. Go to the store & buy a package, at least it will be cut into pieces that you can eat. Places like this love to give you huge pieces of cabbage that you cannot get into your mouth. Also this joint is so hard to get into. Talk about a stairway to no where. Try & find the entrance to this place. $32 later we went down to the Waterfront café & got something to eat. Seeds has lousy service too. We wont be back & we're local.

La Conner reminds me of the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles. The town is so quaint, it seems fake. Seeds is one of the first seeming facades you see as you enter from the west, and it startled me a little to see people actually inside the building. I went with a group of 8 and seating is rather tight. I wouldn't plan to come if your party has more than 8 unless they have a larger area I'm not aware of. They had an interesting selection of local beers on tap, and during happy hour they're all arounf $3-$4! What better time for a full sized beer sampling. I had an intriguing watermelon Pale Ale that tantalized the taste buds. Try it! It's very distinct and refreshing. Next was an IPA that tastes like an IPA...a kick in the face. Finally I went with a lighter lager that was refershing but good flavor and body. Since I'm in Washington I made it a point to order fish and chips at every single location I could imagine, and Seeds was no exception. It was quite tasty. The breading was flavorful and crispy, and the portion of fish was sizeable and tasted fresh. It wasn't the best fish and chips I've ever had, but It's up there. The people around me ordered a seafood stew, fish tacos, and scallops(I tried one. It was well seared and cooked perfectly.) Everyone was very happy with their food. I didn't hear a single bad thing. The waitress was a little flustered because her credit card machine stopped working and we split the bill. She comped a few of our drinks which was a nice gesture while she figured things out. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in La Conner.

THis is the second time we have been here. Service has improved since two years ago, but is still on the slow side. The food is amazing though. Worth the wait. Just plan to wait and have a drink or two- it is worth it. We had the crab cakes which were the best I have ever had, and I love crab cakes. Sort of a crab cake snob. The blackened fish tacos were full of flavor, and the black and bleu steak salad was the right amount of weeds (lettuces) and other ingredients. The mixed drinks are strong and delicious. We will eat here again.

The cream puffs are fantastic here! I see someone posted negatively about them below. Perhaps they should read the definition of what a cream puff is filled with. Great place! Fantastic food!! Try the Mac and cheese!!!

My husband and I were staying in La Conner for the weekend and I was looking for a nice reasonably priced restaurant for dinner. I came across Seeds on Yelp and it was also recommended by our bed & breakfast hosts so we walked on over. I was surprised to find numerous gluten free options highlighted on their menu. Always a plus! I enjoyed the gluten free Mac and Cheese with a salad and my husband had the pulled pork sandwich with french fries. Both were delicious and decent sized portions. The service was a slightly above average, but I would definitely eat there again!

We had such high hopes for this restaurant because of the other great reviews. But, obviously, people don't know food, or some of the reviews are fake! If you think you will get healthy food here, think again! First, our food arrived at our table over an hour after we ordered. The place was over half empty. So, we don't know what the hold up was. I think they went to catch our baby prawns that was used to make our prawn salad. Second, the food was horrible. All we could taste in one of our meals was salt! They wanted to pickle our tongues! I had to run to the restroom a few minutes after finishing my meal. Good thing we didn't stay at the restuarant much longer after we ate. They should thank us for that! Third, we were overcharged for the kids' meals and one of the kids' drinks. She intentionally overcharged us. This place is overpriced for the quality of food. They also need to change the restaurant name. This place should not be called Seeds because it is deceiving. It has very few vegetarian options and no vegan options. The one seed used in their bread isn't even from the area.

Used to be a great place to eat but the last two times very bad food and the service wasn't that great. The chef needs to curtail his use of the white pepper in the what was wonderful garlic mashed potatoes. Ruined the taste of the everything else. No bread offered with a $25.00 meal each, never got a water refill either. Shouldn't have to ever ask more water. Maybe your wait staff and chefs should eat at some of the other food establishments in you area and see what service and food is all about. We the public spend our money in your area and expect at least decent food. John S.

The fish of the Fish & Chips is the all time best!!! if Seattle traffic were not so bad I would drive from Puyallup to Seeds weekly for the Fish! I have had Fish & Chips on every coast and almost every state...this Fish is the GREATEST!!! The chips on the other hand were the tiny potato pieces at the bottom of the fryer...ugg.

I really like this place. Have been here twice while on little day trips from Seattle. The portions are huge. I got the Portobello mushroom sandwich and my husband and my mother in law got burgers. My sandwich was fantastic. I felt like they had quit a few vegetarian options, which is important to me. The bread was homemade and delicious. Both times our server has been nice and pleasant with pretty fast service. Also.. after eating and walking around downtown I realized I had left my brand new Ray Ban sunglasses in our booth. I called and they had them waiting for me at the counter. I thought that was excellent customer service. No one came up on a new pair of Ray Bans! I like honest people.

I had a very nice meal here with my family to celebrate my 14 yo steppie's birthday. Now, this particular dinner had potential to be a disaster. There were hubby and I, his kids 14yo steppie and 10yo steppie, and his parentals. Hubs mama is very particular and comes across as being unpleasant and rude at times. I would not want to be someone waiting on her for sure. Add to that she and I both have some gluten issues and I was anxious for our waitress. But, she really held it together. She was a true pro. She checked on MIL specifically several times. MIL and FIL got there before we did and must have mentioned MIL's GF issue but not mine because she really catered to it, made sure when the bread basket came out MIL had some GF toast and all sorts of things like that. Nothing for me though (I'm not dinging her for that though, I didn't mention it, didn't want to fill up on bread). Everyone really liked their food. A lot. We had... Hubs - Blackened steak salad. He wanted "something light" then devoured it! Me - Blackened fish tacos on corn tortillas - Delicious. My only complaint - there was no side dish so the portion seemed a little small. Especially since I had no bread pre-meal. MIL - Blackened fish tacos on corn tortillas w/o salsa. She loved them. And she's hard to please! FIL - Some fish special they had that night. It was a local white fish. He ate every bite. Steppie14 - Fish and Chips - she ate about half of them. Didn't say much. Who knows. You know how teenage girls are. I also had a Vodka Collins to drink. They started my night off right because 1/they didn't ask me how to make it and 2/it was perfect. It baffles me how many bartenders don't know how to make a good Collins! MIL did end up having a moment. And I'm realizing now that I didn't drop extra money for the tip. I feel bad. I have not idea if FIL is a good tipper or not but I have a feeling it's not. That just means I'll have to go back! Oh! The dessert case looks heavenly! If you're one that can partake in dessert have one for me!

We drove up to Mt Vernon for the tulip "festival" over the weekend and after hours in the car we were starving! We took a chance and headed to Seeds. It was hectic, for sure!! But our server handled it well. We had two beet salads that were so fresh and tasty! 3 people in our party had burgers that were huge, messy and delicious! I had the fish tacos and these are not the typical taco truck taco, they were fantastic! Huge with great coleslaw! Everything on our plates was fresh and you could sincerely tell there was pride put into them. The wait for the food was a bit long, but when the people in the kitchen care about what they are putting out, I'm spilling to wait! Having been in the service industry for years you can tell when something is a job to the cook, and when it's an labor of love.

Unbelievable hamburger. The jalapeno poppers are enormous, almost entree-sized (I'd never seen jalapenos that big before), and bursting with molten Cougar Gold.

We chose this restaurant because it had higher ratings than some of the others we had seen in La Conner, and because it was mere steps from our B&B. The service was pretty slow. It took the waitress a long time to acknowledge us when we first sat down, to take our drink orders, and to deliver our waters (the wine came out quickly; the water took forever). The kitchen also took a long time with our order as well - we ordered burgers and onion rings (the onion rings were room temperature and soggy). The burgers were tasty and cooked just as we'd ordered them. The place wasn't especially busy despite being a Saturday night. It was actually more crowded when we got there at 6PM (lots of families with kids) than when we left. Maybe they were just having an off night.

I love this place because they have great options for vegetarians, gluten-free, and organic/local food. The beet salad was a perfect starter (we split a small one) and then my turkey sandwich on gluten-free bread was the best gluten-free sandwich I've had. Ever. I usually shy away from sandwiches because GF bread can be tasteless, but they worked some magic in the kitchen and made it sing. Nice beer selection and excellent service. I'll go back!

For a place called Seeds there were ZERO vegan options. The waitress was rude about it and snickered while informing us that the salads were vegan when they were in fact NOT.

Came back for for my second visit over the weekend. Both my boyfriend and I were looking forward to our meals since we had been planning to return to Seeds as soon as we had figured out when we would visit the tulip festival. Wait time was less than 10 minutes at around 1:45pm, which was much quicker than our last visit. We were seated at a nice table by the window. It was a sunny day, so it was nice to have the warm sun coming through the window. Our waitress was very nice and attentive and made sure our drinks were refilled constantly. Once again, I had the fish tacos...and they were once again phenomenal. Lots of avocado, cheese, salsa, etc paired with deliciously breaded pieces of cod. YUM! My boyfriend again had the fish and chips and commented that the fries were much better this time around. He found them a bit on the oily side, but he still managed to scarf down every last one. Someday I will try one of the pastries in the front display...the enormous cream puffs look AMAZING!!

My husband and I ate here after it was recommended by the hostess at our inn. What a good choice! The options are interesting and there's a variety. We thoroughly enjoyed the pulled pork sliders as an appetizers. I had the blackened fish tacos....I am not a huge seafood fan, but I loved these! My husband had the scallops, which he enjoyed...but after trying my tacos I think he wants those next time. The service was cheerful and helpful! If you fins yourself in La Conner, give this place a try!

My wife, our newborn son, and a couple friends went to Seeds Bistro during the tulip festival. Let me start by saying that for a group of four with a stroller, it would have been nice to be asked where we would prefer to sit rather than stick us at a small table next to a doorway that guests and servers were constantly walking through. The service was SLOW! We went before lunch when the place was still pretty empty, so I was confused when it took 15 minutes to have someone drop by with water. it was the same way to get our actual drink order. When we ordered our food we got an app, calamari (was cold and chewy), and our main dishes, it took 45 minutes to get our food, including the app!!! When we asked the server about our app, she looked at us and said that its taking so long because the cooks have a hard time with really difficult orders...I got the Mac-n-cheese, overcooked, it was greasy and burned on top, for what i paid for that dish i didnt get a good portion or value. the same is to be said on what everyone else got. Needless to say I DO NOT recommend going here. As my wife and I are former servers, we were very upset at the TERRIBLE service. Awful service, small portions, overpriced, waste of time and money.

Stopped here during the Tulip Festival in April for lunch. It was probably their busiest weekend of the year, and as someone who has worked as a server, even I was shocked at how poor their service was. We put our name in with the rushed hostess and had no idea how long the wait would be or that they had closed one of their outside seating areas. Once at the table, the server was abrupt and absent for most of the meal and the kitchen took forever. The only saving grace was the food, which was fresh with delicious house-made breads. Hopefully a better experience during a slower weekend.

Foods good but don't expect quick service. That's why they loose a star. It's more of a laid back service, polite though. Cream puff was amazing, fish and chips are really good.

Such great food! Had the crab cakes, and normally don't like them, but they were so good! Also had the cougar gold Mac n cheese (came on recommendation) and it was the best Mac n cheese I've ever had! Cannot wait to go back for a return trip! The atmosphere was quaint and cozy as well. Neat little place to eat with great food!

We were there last weekend on a weekend away in LaConner. We got out of Seattle early to beat traffic and then needed a place in LaConner with wi-fi to finish up some work for the week. And this was the perfect spot! Great fresh food. Our food came out piping hot. Service was friendly.

My boyfriend and I went here for the first time after hearing rave reviews from several people about how excellent the food was. The place was cute and cozy. After sitting down though it took almost twenty minutes for the waitress to come take our order. The place was maybe a little over half full but not overwhelmingly busy by any means. We were getting irritated by the time she made her apperance which she didn't even apologize about the wait. The worse part though was another waitress who had her section right by us must of passed our table ten times without saying a word. It was pretty obvious their resturant managment is lacking which can ruin your dining experience, no matter how good the food is. With that said the food was great. We shared a calamari app and ordered a burger and my bf the cup of chowder and half a turky focaccia sandwich. I would of given this place four stars but with the lack luster service I had to denote a star. We may come back in the future because we enjoyed the food but it will not be on a regular basis.

I had a bad first experience where we were basically ignored during our whole time there. However... I'm glad that I gave them a second chance. The food quality and quantity are high. They have an excellent menu with generally local items. I've had the salmon caesar salad a couple times and have never been let down. The sweet potato fries are addictive too!

I only added an extra star to this rating as I have eaten here 4 times before, the was food was always great . Today I took my boyfriend for lunch here, and after waiting for nearly 30 minutes for our food, the food was terrible. The tempura vegetables was the worst execution of this wonderful simple to prepare delicate dish. The vegetables were deep-fried in a thick batter, were oozing cheap dry-fryer oil all over the plate and was served with a thick tartare. The Crab Cakes had so much 'filler' ingredients, I couldnt taste the Crab. They were dry and over-cooked. The Oysters were cooked so much that they were dry, flavorless, and oily. The menu is not cheap, the portion sizes have seriously shrunk over time and the food has been poorly executed. I am sadden to write this, but I will not be returning anytime soon.

Went up to Mt Vernon to see the tulips with a friend and her family but drove past them when we couldn't find much yet so decided to have lunch in La Conner. My friend had mentioned how good this place was after she and a co-worker visited before. We waited 10ish mins to be seated, outside and had our drinks ordered, then looked over the menu. I ordered the BLTA, and it was really a great choice! Came with chips as well. We also ordered the calamari, it's not something I will likely have again, I don't like the texture, but it was pretty good. Food didn't take too long, it was good and sitting outside on the sunny/warm day was so nice. The server was really nice too. I'll be back!

Absolutely Fabulous! Came here for the tulip festival and had done some Yelp research on where to have lunch. We had such a lovely time here. There was a bit of a wait to get a table, but I think we were waiting less than 15 minutes for a 1:00pm brunch. There were three of us. I had the tomato soup and wedge salad - both excellent - from the roasted flavor of the soup to the delicious gorgonzola dressing on the wedge salad! And the flax seed bread was to die for. One other person had the clam chowder and artichoke quiche and she loved her meal - the crust on the quiche looked mouthwatering. The last person had fish and chips - which came out perfectly. Loved the atmosphere of the place, service was friendly and fast, and happy that they had local, gluten free and healthy choices. I would definitely go back again and again to this restaurant. Loved the logo on the back of the tshirt too - "the seediest joint in town".

Last night in the San Juan's, looked on Yelp for help. Two of us in our group we're thinking Seeds. We walked a few blocks and had a fabulous time as well as a wonderful meal. The staff was quick to seat us and accommodate our meal choices. End of the season but the place was busy, busy. Please try it if your ever in LaConner, fun, fun and delish time!

Don't order breakfast here, even though they serve breakfast daily through 2 p.m. I usually love breakfast any time of the day, but NOT here! I received the most cold, not fresh, uneatable food I have ever been served in any restaurant! Eggs were cold & dry, as was the one slice of toast...couldn't eat any of it! Also, the service was horribly S-L-O-W and the wait staff snotty, which all made for the WORST restaurant experience I have ever had anywhere!

Love Seeds in spite of their characteristically slow kitchen. As a typical Pacific Northwesterner I am always in search of the best clam chowder and fish and chips. Had both dishes on a recent visit to Seeds. The clam chowder was full of bacon and clams, not over full of potatoes and had the right degree of brininess. The huge portion of fish was fresh cod wrapped in crispy batter. Perfect! The fries, unfortunately, were soggy and served only as a bed for the steaming hot fish. Loved Seed's homemade tartar sauce too! Great spot for any meal in La Conner!

The menue is interesting and the food is tasty, but the execution is lacking the "greatness" the restaurant vibe and prices suggest. It has been a few years since I last visited La Conner and I was happy to see this restaurant has survived. But next time around we might just try something new.

Tasty food. I have been here several times, both for formal food and the bar menu. Both are very tasty and have been impressed with the food and service. I feel it is good for groups. My wife and I had a reception with about 20 people for dinner. The staff was very cooperative, with a meeting ahead of time to work out numbers and a menu.

Located in LaConner, Wa. Seeds is a nice little restaurant with a cozy bar. They serve seafood, steak, salads. They have a good happy hour with $4 appetizers; coconut shrimp, portabello quesedillas, mussles in curry sauce. Everything we tried was delicious! They have a small selection of beers on tap and a pretty good wine selection. The bartenders are very good and pour great drinks. They use fresh local ingredients, and the menu changes with the seasons.

If you are in, or even near, La Connor, you MUST come here. Everything about it is great. As another poster said, service was attentive, but not overbearing. The food was fantastic. Ambience was cozy, calm, and has a romantic feel to it, while also being a great place to go with friends. The bar is superb as well.

First let me tell you what I like about this place: 1) The atmosphere - it's very cute, clean, and at a great location 2) Live music - they usually offer up live music on Thursdays, and sometimes on weekends. I love that. La Conner needs more of the music scene and I appreciate that Seeds stepped up to deliver on that. 3) The service - I've always had great service, and the bartenders always make great drinks. Now here is what doesn't work for Seeds: 1) The food - it's terrible. It didn't used to be, and that's the sad part. It used to be a great place to eat in La Conner, but has steadily declined in the food quality. I ate there about a year ago and vowed "never again"; however, there was a musician I really wanted to see on a Thursday so I tried it again. I figured I'd be safe and order the hamburger and homemade Gorgonzola fries. Well, the fries are no longer homemade, and they were served to us cold with chunks of gorgonzola thrown over the top. The portions were much smaller (they have grown steadily smaller each year it seems). Really the meal was sort of like a Denny's meal. I won't quit going there, but I would recommend to you that you go for the live music, sit in the bar, and have an appetizer.

I ate on a Monday evening with my boyfriend and his mother. Two of us had the fish & chips which were tasty with 3 decent sized pieces of cod and the fries were home made. My boyfriend had the pulled pork sandwich which was great! And we shared a beet salad with goat cheese, also pretty good. Overall, it was a nice visit with pretty darn good food. I would definitely eat here again.

We were here for dinner as we were visiting La Conner over the weekend. I ordered Seed's Veggie Burger and it was one of the best I had. The patty was perfectly grilled and the Cole slaw side was good. My husband ordered the Penne pasta with grilled prawns. It was nice too. ( It was a special). The lava cake as a desert was awesome. Corpse Reviver and Zingtini under cocktails were nice. Laurie was very friendly and the service was great ! I would come here again if I plan to visit La Conner.

Nice place inside. Food all around us looked good. However, we never got ours. After 40 minute wait, waitress with the pink streak in her hair informed us that she had not put our order in to the grill yet! We were quite hungry, and tired from a long beach walk. Opted to go home rather than wait. She made no offer to hasten our meal, comp us for another visit or anything, just threw up her hands and went to the kitchen to complain to the other employees that we were leaving. We are locals, not tourists, and they won't be getting any repeat business from us. Now I know why local friends have said, "Good food, but service is just not dependable".

My daughter and I ate here two weeks ago. We both ordered the fish and chips, and shared the wedge salad. Fish was great quality, but portions were a small two pieces and expensive. Batter was light and fluffy crispy beer batter, fries were house-made and good, and tartar was house-made as well and good. The coleslaw was not good and stayed in its home. We pretty much had to fill up on fries with the lack of fish. Wedge salad was good, chunky buts of tomato and bacon go great with gorgonzola dressing... For desert, me- gluten free choc cookie ( good flavor, soft, rice flower a little gritty), my daughter ordered the biggest choc eclair I have ever seen, it was almost as big as her head! ( no joke) - I would post the photo but she said she would kill me. The eclair came to our lodging with us and was literally picked at like a carcass for 3 days, it's that big. Filled with good vanilla custard and whip cream on the upper layer, and coated with chocolate on the top. Yum! Their desert case looked really amazing... Decor in here is great, upscale vintage cafe. Bit pricey...

While running a relay race, our team stopped here to have dinner. The service was a bit on the slower side as it took a while for our meals to arrive but they were very attentive with the drinks and the waitress carried a very friendly and warm attitude. The food was delic and the atmosphere super cozy. The next day, I realized I left my glasses there and when I called they said they would mail them to me! Super awesome! I had the beet salad with grilled chicken and others had the gluten free mac n cheese, both types of quesadillas, the chicken sandwich and also the kale salad - all of us were extremely satisfied and did not leave anything on our plates! Definitely recommend!

Super Awesome and friendly! I got the veggie burger, which they make in house, and it was fantastic. My friends got the fish n chips and the fish tacos. Both looked so delicious and the pieces of fish were huge! I liked the homemade fries but one of my friends thought they were a bit too greasy. And the bloody mary was superb. We are just visiting here but I wish I had this place in my neck of the woods, if ever in La Connor check it out its fresh local and delicious!

"Food was very good, but expensive. We ordered the special appetizer, (prawns) for $12, and we're given exactly 4. That's $3.00 per prawn!" Cute restaurant, less than friendly waitress. Salads were good but overpriced also.

Nice atmosphere.... I have to agree with other reviewers that our hostess was less than friendly; she didn't say much. However, our waiter was quite nice and attentive. Of course, we were there at a non-busy time. I ordered the bacon eggs Benedict (for $13)...a bit pricey, but delish! My friend ordered a crab cake sandwich that was okay ( I am not much of a seafood fan, but it was okay to me...she might have liked it more). The fried potatoes and french fries are really good. Overall, good experience....a little overprice.

I hate to be harsh, but since I've let our experience "brew" for a few days, I find myself being even more disappointed than when we finished our meal. When we arrived, we were met by a hostess who barely said hello, grabbed menus & quickly walked toward the dining area, expecting us to follow (I didn't hear her say "this way" or anything). When we arrive at our table, she puts the menus down & hustles off. I see her scrambling around throughout the evening. Walking fast, filling water glasses, seating people - not being mean, but certainly not warm/welcoming & basically just giving the feel that she has too much to do rather than be your friend. The waitress was similar. She did say hello, pointed on the menu, "did you see the specials?" (no describing them or making suggestions). Even when asked to describe/help choose between two different dishes, she had no words to help...she just said, "it depends on what you are in the mood for - this is beef & this is pork" (duh). As for the food - we had an appetizer & a salad & 2 different entrees. Portions were generous. The beet salad was good (a little heavy on the goat cheese, which I like, but was surprising). The other dishes, a smoked salmon "bruscheta" was oddly flavorless, unless you count the over abundance of pickled onion piled high, which did not complement the salmon at all. I had a scallop entree which had too many things going on - fuscilli pasta, cream sauce, corn, red peppers, green chilis...and my husbands steak was overwhelmed by the cabernet sauce in which it was slathered. I guess my overall disappoinment was the lack of finesse. I didn't go expecting a 5 star experience...but the menu, prices & overall look of the place make you think it is going to be far better than what lands on your plate. Kind of a bummer since this was really our only full evening in town.

Whenever I go and visit my parents I end up going to lunch here with my mother. I have only been here a few times for lunch but it has always been fantastic! The salads are wonderful - I had one that was topped with Calamari that was yummy and another one had beets in it. The clam chowder is very good as well. I would recommend this place to others. I would like to try it for dinner sometime when I visit.

I sometimes drive up from Seattle in part to have one of my most favorite housemade veggie burgers. The seeds weeds salad with creamy Gorgonzola is also one of my most favorite salads for its freshness and depth of flavor while maintaining an authentic simplicity. I think it's because of super high quality ingredients.

Ate here twice within a week's span. Had the fish taco--twice. Probably one of the best fish tacos I've ever had the pleasure of eating, with a generous portion size. Not cheap, but not ridiculously overpriced either. Ambience is cute. Only criticism is that food can take a bit of time, even though there were very few other diners. Not sure how that would be handled if the restaurant was packed with people, though perhaps it was staffed low due to the fact that it was winter, and not peak tourist season. That being said, it's a comfortable atmosphere, and not at all a bad place to be waiting for a meal.

Debated between 3 & 4 stars. Went with 4 due to the quaintness of the location. Went with my in-laws who frequent this restaurant. My Father-in-Law raved about the meatloaf & then said it was just mediocre tonight. The other adults all had burgers. The buns were amazing. Very fresh, soft and fluffy, but substantial enough not to come apart. The meat was grass-fed, though it didn't seem to be seasoned at all. The lettuce on my burger looked like it had been wilting for days. It was the same price as Red Robin and tripple the quality. Definately made fresh with good quality meat. It is a thin burger so if you like em thick and juicy this isn't your place! My daughter had the child's mac n' cheese. (different fromt he adult mac n' cheese) It was SO cheesy! Whenever she took a bite the thick and creamy cheese sauce would slowly fill in the spot she had emptied so it never looked like she had eaten any! The specials were very pricey, but the rest of the menu was pretty reasonable. They serve pastries from the Calico Cupboard which are amazing!

Nice decor and interesting menu items. Not everything was tasty though, but my main dish (beef) was great. It was slightly undercooked as I asked for medium-rare but got rare instead, oh well. Still good. They need to add some to their beer selection, they need a stout and some kind of brown ale to round things out.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Seeds and will visit again in the near future. The service was friendly, price was fair, they support local farmers and the food we had was delicious. The location is convenient for those visiting La Connor and not far from Mount Vernon or Burlington. We visited Seeds for the first time last weekend. They use local and organic ingredients. There were many enticing entrees such as salmon, organic beef/steak, oysters but in the end we chose a small salad with mac and cheese as the entree. We never had mac and cheese outside of the house and wondered what the bistro-and-bar mac-and-cheese was all about. It was delicious! The mac and cheese was so filling that I couldn't finish it. I took it home and had the left overs for a midnight snack. The mac and cheese was only $7 a plate. The salmon and steak was around 14-20. There were also plenty of options for around $10 on the dinner menu. The atmosphere was semi rustic, a bit artsy and casual. The wait staff was very personable and down-to-earth. We were not familiar with the La Connor area and asked for tips about the night life and the waiter checked in with the Seeds staff and gave us many ideas. We will visit again to try lunch.

We stopped in for dinner after a day of tulip viewing and were quiet happy with the experience. The prices/portion sizes seemed a bit inconsistent but we lucked out with our burgers - both the beef and housemade veggie burgers were huge and delicious, piled with rustic fries and reasonably priced. They were a bit slow to come out, but otherwise service was pleasant. I was definitely impressed for the location. And since it's only about 10 miles from I-5, it's worth swinging by for something more wholesome and quaint than the chains you'll find in Mt Vernon.

Spent an exciting happy hour on the Seeds deck during a very loud, summer thunderstorm. My husband and I were the only folks out there for awhile and it was very romantic. Beautiful flower baskets and window boxes surrounded us and the thunder was rumbling and the lightning was cracking. Our B and B was just down the street and we had all the time in the world. Our server was extremely cordial and full of good humor. She was very attentive and made sure to check in on us frequently without rushing us. My husband and I each had a strawberry margarita. Then he tried the strawberry mojito and I had the raspberry mojito. Appys were 1/2 off so I ordered the coconut shrimp. Isaak had the balsamic beet salad. Everything was very fresh and delicious. The berries were in season and we were in the midst of Skagit Valley, so you know they were superb! This is a delicious restaurant with great ambiance and a perfect stop for those hanging out in La Conner.

Being a local, Seeds is my favorite restaurant in the valley right now. Really great food. BUT... had a bummer surprise last night when a girlfriend and I got our bill. Servers should definitely be mentioning prices when telling about the daily specials. Yes, we should have thought to ask, but $30.00 for the tenderloin special was a not so special surprise.

Solid joint. I really enjoyed Seeds. Went on a night when my Aunt's boyfriend was playing. Good atmosphere and the lighting sets a good mood. Can't lie, prices were a little steep, but what can you expect from a small town place. I had the fish tacos and they were really fresh. Also had this really good IPA there. Can't remember what it was called but I throughly enjoyed my time at Seeds. Good place to take a date, just bring extra cash.

I have to agree with some of the previous reviews that the place is decent. The decor is nice and the food was tasty but it's nothing special or unique. There are plenty of spots like it in Seattle. Perhaps the fact that it's similar to most so-so Seattle places is the reason why it's a draw in La Conner? But seriously, when I go to La Conner, I am actually hoping to get away from the Seattle-esque places and the ridiculous price. To illustrate, I ordered the shrimp kabob appetizer. It was $9 bucks and it came with a whooping four shrimps....really??? $9 bucks? For some, it might be a perfect spot but for me, I want to stretch my dollars so after having a glass of wine and two little tini tiny appetizers, the hubbie and I bounced. We walked to the main street and settled in a friendly tavern - I think it's called La Conner Tavern or something? Anyway, it was a much better atmosphere. The drinks were reasonable and the fried shrimp was delicious. Hubbie and I had a few drinks each and we shared a shrimp and chips and the total tab including a very generous tip came out to $40. People, if you want to save your money, then don't bother with this place.

Well I labored over 2 or 3 stars because when we went the service was good and the server tried so hard to make us happy. I decided on 2 stars because the food was not that good. I started with the house salad which is called Seeds Weeds. It was just okay, romaine lettuce a slice of beet, carrots red onion & sunflower seeds. THIS for $9 yes $9 dollars! My fish tacos were very greasy and I did not like the toppings at all. The cabbage was okay & avocado nice but the salsa was too sweet. Also the cheese (jalapeno jack) just wasn't right on these nor was putting tartar sauce on greasy fish. Too much on there as in the chef decided that adding jalapeno jack AND tartar sauce AND salsa is a good thing. Maybe this was an off day for them but these were disappointing. My husband ordered the meatloaf with a cream gravy w/ shiitake mushrooms. He found 1 piece of mushroom and the gravy had a flour taste to it. Meatloaf was kind of dry with a heavy herb taste. Fries were just okay & vegies were overcooked. The prices are not ridiculous but for the quality of the food they are high. Nothing special here and I would not make it a point to go back. Ambiance is nice & the place was clean. They need to fine tune their menu and reevaluate the dishes.

My wife and I had lunch at this Victorian bistro for the first time today. It was a great capper for our romantic overnight getaway to this great little town. They were busy and we had to wait a few minutes for a table. The service, though a little slow, was very friendly. That said, the food was well worth the wait. The hard part is deciding what to order. Breakfast dishes are served until 2pm. The menu is full of tantilizing choices including omelets, quiches, sandwiches, salads, soups, and an array of desserts that put inches on your waistline just reading their descriptions. I had an awesome portabello mushroom sandwich on sun-dried tomato foccacia with a cup of clam chowder on the side. My spoon stood up by itself in the chowder, loader with big chunks of clam and potatoes. My wife ordered a delicious ham, mushroom, and cheese quiche with a side salad, and we shared a small bowl of the Cougar Gold Mac 'n' Cheese with "frizzled" onions on top. For dessert, we shared a piece of banana cream pie with an amazing caramel sauce. Take a short drive up to Skagit Valley and treat yourself to a fantastic meal in awesome ambiance. It will be a must on our next trip to La Conner.

Save your time, effort and hard earned cash. The service was deplorable, the food less than mediocre. Quite honestly the typical Denny's is better and the atmosphere is far less hostile. Unfortunately, my conversation with Hillary, the "manager", was very much like my conversation with the server...it fell on deaf ears. Don't waste your time on this one or in fact any of the Calico Cupboards, the service is the same at all locations; slow and you're treated as a necessary evil rather than the customer. Unfortunately, the food is as bad as the service.

I've been here several times and I usually stick to my favorite which is their fish and chips. The tartar is really dilly which I love. Prices are a little high but I don't mind. Their Mojito is a winner! Very fresh! Group I was with last time had the cougar mac and cheese bites, which are just gobs of mac and cheese, breaded and deep fried. Sounded pretty decadent but I was let down. Others liked them.

Not good at all. Two of us ordered the oyster sandwiches and for $12 each I expected a pretty darn good sandwich. The bread was dry, the oysters were so small you couldn't taste them, and there wasn't enough tarter sauce to moisten the uber dry bread. It was more like a dried out lettuce sandwich. I also had a cup of coffee which was cold and stale and seemed like it was leftover from the breakfast service. Our waitress never bothered to ask if we needed anything or if the food was okay, and I can understand why because it wasn't. I'm not picky or hard to please, but this place really missed the mark. For $30 I at least expect to be pleased.

I was up in LaConnor for a few days and must say, I loved this place so much, I ate there three times in 5 days! Now, if you've read my other reviews, I am a fish taco guru, and their fish tacos were out of this world! Being from Hawaii, I was a little iffy about even ordering it, but the waitress (who was SO nice, BTW) said it was good, so I went for it! WOW, they were nicely seasoned, huge and tender. I was SO impressed, just so impressed. I went back for breakfast, and had the eggs Benedict, which again, was so nice. I sat out on the patio too, a nice relaxing atmosphere. I also liked that the ingredients are local and mostly organic. Oh, and the pictures near the restroom and really cool, so be sure to check them out!! Enjoy!

This was the best place that I ate the entire time visiting Washington. The food was amazing and the service was helpful and quick. The atmosphere was cozy and cute with the fireplace and big windows overlooking the town the highlight. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you're looking for a meal or just a nice place for a cup of tea or drinks. I enjoyed the Blue Burger while my friend had the best veggie burger of her life. And I must agree with her, that was the best veggie burger I have ever had as well. I wish the owners would open up a restaurant on the east coast where I am from!

We had a late lunch here after spending time at the tulip festival. We were very pleased with Seeds. We were hungry and when we walked in we were greeted by a host. First thing we did was ask to look at the children's menu. I was very surprised to find a large children's menu of about 10 items. Usually kid's menus are about 4 things. Seeds had great options for the kids and only one item was deep fried. We sat down and got drinks. The kids played with crayons and we ordered. I got the mac and cheese (recommended by our server), my husband ordered the avocado, pepper bacon burger with fries. The server earned a big tip when she brought out the kids food as soon as it was ready. Its hard for the kids to be patient, especially when they are hungry. I was happy she brought their food out early. Our food was delicious and priced well. The beef for the burger was tasty and the fries delicious. My mac and cheese was great too. Desserts were $7 a piece! The keep them in a glass case for you to see while you wait for a table. It worked on us, we had already decided our dessert before we sat down. $7 is a bit much for a piece of coconut cream pie or chocolate cake. For 2 adults and 1 child, we spent about $50 (including drinks, tip and dessert) We will be going back to try out their dinner sometime. And I have a feeling that Seeds will become part of our tulip festival tradition.

Had the turkey foccacia and it was a bit squishy and greasy, but very tasty. I'd certainly come back if I made it back this way. An excellent choice if you are tulip watching. The menu seemed pretty complete, and it is super convenient to pull in and take a look at what is offered if you aren't sure. It's right at the entrance to the town.

Cozy, mildly upscale eats. I was here for a late night; the service was inattentive (unless you were another server) and food timing was off enough to have cold fries and wilty salad. Aaaaand the order wasn't perfect, either, from the kitchen side. The menu sounded good, with some ambitious specials. Their selection of (rotating) beers on tap was good. I'd try it again, and go during a busier time or get something they can't wreck, like soup.

This was our second time to seeds and will be our last, this place is awful! Our hostess barely said two words to us, sat us and walked away we instantly felt unwelcome, our server was a stuck up pompous a$$. He was rude from the beginning I asked what the specials were because he never offered any information about them, we ordered muscles that came out overcooked rubber, we both ate one and both agreed they were nasty. Then he came back a few mins later telling us you no they are not served raw I was in disbelief, I am fully aware of how they are to be cooked, I order them every time a menu offers them! I thanked him him for his knowledge and told him we were leaving. They need to give their staff a class on customer service, with how they treat people it is only a matter of time before they are closed.

My wife and i ventured here this past weekend. I was not impressed at all. For starters we walked in and were approached by a hostess that acted as if she didn't want to be there and made us feel unwelcome. Wasn't a very good atmosphere from the get go. We were sat and given our menus, the waiter walked up to our table shortly after. Instead of asking us how we were he asked us, "are you guys going to drink anything" kinda missing some steps there. We replied water is fine. He didnt tell us the specials so we asked instead. The muscles he mentioned sounded great but let me specify SOUNDED GREAT. They came out over cooked and cold. We both had one and sent them back. The waiter came back with an attitude like it was our fault for not cooking them properly and my wife and I both decided it was time to leave. I would never go back nor would I recommend this place to anyone.

Our experience with Seeds Bistro and Bar is exemplary. The food is excellent. The service was attentive, but not overbearing. They have a wonderful menu loaded with lots of healthy selections made with local ingredients. My personal favorites are the Northwest Clam Chowder and Fish Tacos. This is one of the best choices in La Conner for a meal.

I first went to Seeds being very excited and sure I was going to love it because the owner of Seeds owns my favorite restaurant, Calico Cupboard. I left my first visit mildly disappointed as it was not what I was expecting and didn't enjoy dinner. I had the cougar macaroni and cheese and it wasn't horrible. I ordered that dish because there wasn't much else on the menu that sounded appetizing. See, here's the thing, I'm a very finicky eater. I won't eat most seafood, mushrooms, olives, any raw meat/seafood, thai food, and my body hates pork. The menu at Seeds didn't appeal to my finicky side, and, I openly admit its my fault.

This is a super restaurant. Wish we had one near us. We spent about 6 days in La Conner and found ourselves gravitating back to Seeds for a total of 4 times. The first time we had a group of 10. The staff was more than accommodating and didn't mind that we spent two plus hours. The food is fabulous, the service superb. Wish I could have taken the recipes with us. I highly recommend this restaurant on many different levels. We found nothing lacking.

Lousy, dry, overdone burger. And...had to wait 50 minutes to get it. Understaffed. Poor service.

    (1)
  • Jackie B.

The burgers and onion rings were fantastic! And the berry crumble was pretty damn good too. With a good selection of local beers.

Everything was incredibly tasty! Calamari, fresh mozzarella salad with heirloom tomatoes, spinach salad, peanut butter pie. Mmm... And the staff was very friendly. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

First time here and definitely impressed! Food was very good, little long of a wait, but it was busy. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful here. We will be back!

We are giddy with excitement over how amazing our meal was! We had the fried fish tacos and house made veggie burger. What a wonderful atmosphere to top it all off! Definitely coming back soon.
